Choosing A Garden Fish Pond Pump
Choosing A Garden Fish Pond Pump
Choosing the correct pond pump for your pond is very important, it will help create oxygen, run fountain displays and even pond filter systems. This article willl hopefully make your choice easier.
Fountain Pumps :-
Usually supplied with a range of fountain attachments, a
fountain pump will create fountain displays whilst adding in extra oxygen and water movement to your pond. Fountain pumps usually come with either a foam pre-filter or a fine mesh cage to prevent debris from the pond clogging up the fountain display heads.

Pond Filter Pumps :-
A
Pond Filter Pump is the workhorse of the pond, often running 24hrs a day 365 day a year. Also know as solids handling or dirty water pumps, they have no pre-filters and are capable of sucking in larger debris such as leaves, fish water etc. The solids handling capability allows the pump to suck the larger debris from the pond floor and pump them upto a filtration system.

External Pond Pumps :-
External pond pumps are mainly used on gravity fed filter systems. Similar to swimming pool pumps the Yamitsu
external pond pump has a large filter basket to cage the larger debris and waste matter. The Jebao Eco Pond Pump can also be used externally by removing the other casing.
