The quartz sleeve protects the UVC lamp and the electric from the pond water and enable the uv light to clear the water. From time to time the quartz sleeve can get covered in slime and limescale which is difficult to remove. A new glass sleeve will ensure that the uvc lamp can work to its full potentional.
