This complete kit from Evolution aqua has been put together so you can join both waste outlets of your Nexus filter into one. This will help keep pipework looking tidy and allows just one outlet point for the waste.
Utilising the existing ball valves on your filter you will still be able to drain out each chamber independently.
The Evolution Aqua Nexus filter are not supplied with a lid from standard, however Discount Leisure Products can supply a high quality genuine lid at a discount price.
This single piece lid is heavy duty and will help protect you filter bacteria from excess light or debris falling directly in to the filter.
Market leaders in koi pond filtration have redesigned and improved the Nexus filter and have brought out the next generation of nexus filter, the Evolution Aqua Nexus 220 koi pond filter. The new design features a new Micro K1 filter media, a new design removable 'Eazy' among other improvements.
The Nexus 220 koi pond filter is suitable for installation as a pump fed and gravity fed set up for ponds up to 18,000 litres (4,000 gallons).
How a Nexus Works
Water enters the Nexus in to the inner vortex like chamber where solids are settles out before the water enters the next stage of filtration, the Eazy. As water passes through the Eazy, finer particles of waste are removed via the static micro K1 media. Water then passes through to the outer chamber where the biological filtration takes place in a 'moving bed' of K1 media, this is a chamber of K1 that is agitated via air from an air pump.
The 'Eazy' on both the 220 & 320 Nexus filter works in the same way. It is a chamber of static Micro K1 filter media that is for the removal of the finer solid particles of waste.
The Moving bed is also the same in each size of Nexus, an air pump pushes air through a perforated ring at the bottom of the Nexus causing the K1 media to move freely within the chamber which creates great biological filtration.
Cleaning the Nexus
The cleaning process for your Nexus 220 filter will vary depending on if you have a pump fed or gravity fed installation, please refer to the PDF manual for full details. An air pump is required to create the 'moving bed' in the Nexus and also for the cleaning of one. Cleaning of a Nexus is a simple process which involves diverting the air from the outer chamber and into the 'Eazy where the static media become agitated by the air to remove the solids collected. After the K1 has been agitated you simple open a drain value and empty that chamber of debris and repeat if required.
Specification
An additional 100 litres of K1 media can be purchased for the Evolution Aqua Nexus 220 filter system to increase the capacity of water it can maintain up to its full 18,000 litre potential.
No air pump is supplied with this filter as the size required depends on the amount of K1 media that is used within the filter, see below for a guide to the air pump sizes
