Alfagrog is a pH neutral porous ceramic material that has a huge surface area and is ideal for pond and aquarium filtration. It is a lightweight material formed from clays and other raw materials that are then sintered at high temperatures resulting in this porous foamed ceramic.

Alfagrog has such a high surface area that you would need up to 20 times more volume of foam to create the same biological effect as this E40 Alfagrog media

Highly porous with large surface are for great filter bacterial growth
As a guide use 1 litre of Alfagrog per 1000 litres of pond water.
